What do you think was motivating Peter to speak the way he did in verse 5, saying “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”? Perhaps verse 6 gives us a hint?
The disciples have seen a dazzling sight, and yet the voice from the cloud says, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him.” (the ear versus the eye) What might the significance of this be?
