Pastoral Staff:

Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys, Minister of Worship and Pastoral Care

I rejoice in serving as the Minister of Worship and Pastoral Care at Calvin Church: preaching and planning worship, providing spiritual care and counsel, leading the staff, and encouraging and equipping this congregation in their growth as disciples of Jesus Christ and in their mission in our community.  I served as the Minister of Discipleship at Calvin Church from 2011-2017 and then transitioned to my current role.

I was raised in Fremont, Michigan and attended Calvin College and Princeton Theological Seminary.  I was ordained as a Minister of the Word in the Christian Reformed Church in 2009 when I served at Church of the Servant in Grand Rapids.  I am married to Kyle Heys, who works at Calvin University.  We have two children: Jubilee and Lazarus. I like to sing, drink coffee, and spend time outdoors.

Rev. Brad Zwiers, Minister of Faith Formation

I’m thrilled to be part of the Holy Spirit’s work at Calvin Church, and grateful for the chance to walk in faith together, grow into our identity in Christ, and wrestle with what it means to follow Jesus Christ in our context. In close collaboration with Pastor Rebecca and Pastor Kelly, I focus on faith formation and discipleship at Calvin Church, with an emphasis on middle school, high school, and college ministries.

I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Calvin College and Western Theological Seminary. In vocational ministry, I’ve served at Pillar Church in Holland, Michigan and at Calvin Christian High School and Middle School in Grandville, Michigan.

Gwyn and I married in 2012, and we have a toddle-aged son. We go on long walks, hike dunes, and read a lot of books.

Rev. Kelly Buist, Minister of Visitation

I am excited to join God and the ministry team here at Calvin Church as the Minister of Visitation.  It is my joy to visit with many members of the congregation on a regular basis as we sit in the presence of God together. I honor and value the stories that come out of our visits and I am grateful for the opportunity to come alongside people as we seek to discover what God is doing in and through each of us.

I was raised in Grand Rapids and attended Calvin College and Calvin Seminary.  I was ordained as a Minister of the Word in the Christian Reformed Church in early 2022. I am married to Don Buist. We have 2 teenage daughters and a tweenage son. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, visiting the beach, reading, gardening, and baking.

Rev. Lisa Meyer, Minister of Discipleship

Calvin Church has been my home church for more than two decades, and I’ve had the honor of serving as a lay leader in a variety of capacities during that time. I’ve been a high school youth group leader, a small group leader and participant, an adult education speaker, and a catechism teacher. Through my years of growing in discipleship at Calvin, I was transformed for ministry and eventually earned an M.Div. from Calvin Theological Seminary. In November 2021 I was ordained to my bi-vocational position as Minister of Discipleship. In addition to my pastoral roles of teaching catechism, preaching, and fostering discipleship, I also serve as the accompanist for the Sanctuary Choir and ring handbells. When I’m not at church, I might be at home in my pajamas working as a registered nurse in the utilization management department of Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services.
I have been married to Corrin, an electrical engineer, since 2005. We have three children in the Grand Rapids Christian Schools. I enjoy baking, cross-stitch, music, and spotting Legos on the floor before stepping on them.

Erin Hubka, Children’s Ministry Coordinator

I have been a member of the Calvin CRC family since I was born. I am thrilled to be taking on the role as the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. Especially since I went through all of the ministries myself. My work is focused on making sure the children feel welcomed and cared for in this church community. To make that happen I work alongside the teachers and leaders of each of the children’s ministries.
I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I graduated from Calvin University in April of 2023 with an Elementary Education degree. Both my parents, Melisa and Dan Hubka, attend Calvin church. Along with my brother, Isaac. I enjoy sewing, reading, coffee and music.

Evie Dykhouse, Pastoral Intern

I am delighted to be joining the Calvin Church family for the next two years as a pastoral intern. I am currently enrolled in Calvin Theological Seminary’s Master of Divinity program and am looking forward to getting involved in the life and ministry of Calvin Church. I can’t wait to get to know you all better as I continue my learning in this place.
I grew up in Byron Center, MI and then went to Trinity Christian College, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Theology and Communication Arts with a focus in Media. I love and was drawn back to the Grand Rapids area for a job and have since enjoyed being back in the same state as my family. I’m very thankful for you all welcoming me into your church home for the next two years as I kick off my seminary journey.

Other Staff:

Kenneth Bos, Director of Music, Organist

It has been a pleasure for me to be a part of the music staff at Calvin Church since September 1996. I began as organist and then acquired some additional duties, eventually becoming Director of Music. My position includes playing the organ, conducting the Sanctuary Choir, keeping track of the music budget, and scheduling and overseeing all of the fine musical activities that go on at Calvin Church. In addition to my work at Calvin Church I keep busy with various accompanying jobs, which currently include Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus, Calvin University, and the Grand Rapids Choir of Men and Boys.

Fay, and I have been married for over 40 years. We are blessed to have three married daughters (and three pretty good sons-in-law) and six adorable grandchildren.
