Second, God recognizes the tenacity of human sin, in particular sin's blindness to the reality and work of His grace-filled love.  Sin so accustoms us to see strength only through worldly lenses that—like the Hebrew people—we can't even begin to recognize the depth and extent of God's love for us in Christ.  To keep faith with His people, then, God must completely upend worldly expectations.  And the only way that message gets through is by the work of the Holy Spirit.  “All your children shall be taught by the LORD,” and “the heritage of the servants of the Lord” is that “no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment.”
