Read Luke 22:54-62.

Read the following questions, and pick one or two to respond to in the comments below.  Or, respond to someone else’s comment with a question or comment of your own.

vs. 54 says that “Peter was following at a distance.”  What might this mean?  How do we sometimes follow Jesus “at a distance”?

vs. 61: “The Lord turned and looked at Peter,” right after he had been denied by him.  What might have gone through Peter’s mind at that moment?  What might have gone through Jesus’ mind?

Read Luke 22:31-34.  Look especially at verse 32, when Jesus says to Peter, “I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”  How do you understand this prayer of Jesus, especially in light of our text for today?

Question from A Walk Thru the Life of Peter:

If Jesus stood before you right now and gazed into your eyes, what do you think he would see?  Knowing that your heart is laid completely bare before him, how would you feel about being in his presence?  Why?
