Egg-citing fun at Kids Club

The Kids Club held an egg-cellent event on Wednesday, January 15, with a thrilling Egg Drop competition that had everyone on the edge of their seat! The night was filled with creativity, laughter, and a bit of mess as kids worked in groups to design the safest and most innovative egg-carrying contraptions.

The challenge:

The event was divided into three rounds, each more challenging than the last. In the first round, the kids were given five items (only recyclables, tape, and string were permitted) to create a protective vessel for their egg. They worked in groups to come up with their designs, with some eggs cushioned in cardboard, others supported with plastic parachutes, and some wrapped up in clever layers of Amazon packaging, string, and tape.

The excitement in the air was palpable as the kids anxiously watched their eggs fall and waited to see if they would make it. The survivors were carefully extracted from their contraptions, and the cheers that erupted showed just how much everyone was invested in the fun! In the first round, three of the six teams were victorious, with their eggs surviving the drop.

Round two:

For the second round, the stakes were raised: each group could use only three items. The pressure was on to make each material counts, and the teams got even more inventive with their designs. Despite the tougher challenge, three more eggs made it through the drop without a crack!

Final round:

The final round was a solo task. Each student could only use one item and three pieces of tape to protect their egg. It was a test of ingenuity, and the kids took to the challenge with determination. When the eggs dropped, two of them miraculously survived!

While the egg drops were certainly the highlight, the entire evening was a blast. Watching the kids eagerly discuss and design their vessels was fun, and it was clear they enjoyed every moment, from the brainstorming to the actual drop. The kids had fun naming their eggs, cheering on their teammates, and watching their eggs plummet, hoping for the best.

Although it was a messy night with some egg yolk splattered here and there, the fun and excitement were worth every drop. It was a fantastic event that showcased the kids' creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, all while fostering a sense of friendly competition. The Egg Drop will surely go down as one of the most memorable events of the year for Kids Club!
