Morning worship: We celebrate the professions of faith of Jacqueline and Clara. Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys preaches from Luke 6:17-26, “A Backwards Life.” The Allegro Ringers and Joyringers lead us in music.
The hymns chosen this morning were selected by Clara and Jacqueline in honor of their profession of faith. Clara and Jacqueline are members of the Worship Committee and assist throughout the year with worship planning. In addition, several of the hymns are also favorites of the youth of our congregation: #136 “To My Precious Lord” (Molly), #770 “In Christ Alone” (Henry, Arie, Maria, Natalie), #177 “Oh, to See the Dawn” (Grace and Natalie) and #859 “Be Thou My Vision” (Grace).
Evening worship: Rev. Arianna Tolsma preaches from Zechariah 8:1-8, “The Presence of God,” and the offering is for the Eastown Community Association. The Eastown Community Association is devoted to fostering a safe, diverse, and walkable Eastown neighborhood by creating opportunities for neighbors and friends to engage and connect. Calvin Church was able to support the ECA by hosting their annual meeting and pancake breakfast. We are grateful to partner with this organization as we follow our Savior, the Word who “became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood” (John 1:14, The Message).
